This promises to be a really exciting event! We are so pleased to be able to let you all know that Island Stage Left will be producing the award-winning drama "Doubt" by John Patrick Shanley here at Roche Harbor with performances throughout the whole month of November - Thursdays thru Sundays in Roche Harbor indoor Pavilion. In 2005 "Doubt" was a smash hit on Broadway, earning both the Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award. Here are a few of the rave reviews it received...
"In just ninety fast-moving minutes, Shanley creates four blazingly individual people. "Doubt" is a lean, potent drama ...passionate, exquisite, important and engrossing." -- NY Newsday "A beautifully balanced drama. Shanley is a writer working at the top of his craft, making the most of a muted but evocative palette in the pursuit of truth's shadows. Here, for the first time in a long time, is a play that is about something." -- Chicago Tribue "An eloquent and provocative investigation of truth and consequences. A gripping mystery, tightly written." -- Time Out Performance dates are November 1 through December 1, 2007 Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. Sundays at 4:30 p.m. in Roche Harbor Pavilion.
To make it an extra special occasion for the person who loves theater productions we are offering a Dinner and Theater Package where you can enjoy a fine dining experience in McMillin's Dining Room before enjoying the theater and then retiring for the evening to one of our deluxe Quarryman Hall Suites. Check out this and other packages HERE!
For more information about "Doubt" please check Island Stage Left website.

So you get to the Harbor and you find you need to wash some clothes? No problem... meet our local "Mistress of the Suds", Barb Persinger. She will make sure you get your laundry done in no time in her hard working tubs of clean. And if you're short on change - she has a change machine to get you the coins needed for your whole wash. Chances are she will be somewhere around the place so you can vent with her, or she just might be in the Roche Harbor Candy Shoppe located in one of the artist booths just down the way. Be sure and check out Laundry at the Wharf next time you need to do laundry at the Harbor. Located on the Wharf next to the Lime Kiln Cafe.

As you may know, we have many employees who come to work at Roche Harbor from far away countries. We always seem to have many employees from Chile and it is very fitting that we help them celebrate Chilean Independence Day - which occurs on September 18th - while they are here with us.
The fiestas patrias (literally "patriotic parties") are a time for all Chileans to gather together and celebrate their country, culture, and independence and the holiday was first established in 1818. Their road to independencefrom Spain started on September 18, 1810 - although they would have to fight for eight more years to earn their total freedom - and so Chile celebrates the 18th of 1810 with great fanfare. In Chile the 18th, or "dieciocho" is celebrated during a week full of fiestas patrias which includes parades, dances, drinking, eating traditional Chilean food, and music. We help our employees celebrate with a party full of music, food and dancing in our Employee Village. Here are some pictures taken at this year's event...
Our Chilean employees enjoying their party away from home.
Even General Manager, Brent Snow, got into the party activities by participating in a traditional Chilean dance.

Fall is a wonderful time to take a walk around Roche Harbor -- as you can see some of our guests enjoying. This country road leads you in front of Our Lady of Good Voyage Chapel and on down to the Sculpture Park where you can then view over a hundred sculptures artfully displayed along lakeside pathways. It will also lead you to the historical cottages which were once homes for the Company Town workers in the 1800's and to the Tarte Center Swimming Pool. Of course, you could go on your own little adventures if you came up for a stay. Perhaps one of our Fall Packages could entice you to stay with us and explore Roche Harbor without the summer crowds. The weather is still sunny and warm - so check out our bargains in the new Quarryman Hall Suites and give yourself an autumn treat! We would love to have you!

So - these are the brave Summer 2007 Marina Crew getting ready to perform their annual "end-of-summer splash" - as they all jump into the cold island water from the pilothouse deck with Troy leading the pack! This ritual has been performed for many years after the Colors Ceremony during the Labor Day weekend. They are all smiling now - but I wonder how long their smiles lasted once they hit the water? Kudo's to you all - you are so brave! We hope to see many of you back again next year! ________________________________________________________
September 5, 2007 ...and a grand time was had by all! Here are pictures from the Employee Appreciation Party held last night (Tuesday September 4th) at the Yacht Club in Friday Harbor. The theme was...
You have to guess who the people are in the pictures - because I am sure I don't know who they all are - but their costumes are fabulous!
Troy... you look so...so....holy?
Debbie you looked great! Thanks for sharing your pictures!

Speaking of grandmothers! This proud grandmother has a lot to be proud of - such a cute little one came to visit the marina and her "Mimi". This is 6-month old Paige and is Colleen Carlton's adorable first grandchild - so she is really extra special! I don't think Colleen looks old enough to be a grandmother - do you? Are you sure?

August 30, 2007 Okay, so here we go! You are the lucky ones to get a glimpse inside one of the brand new townhouses that you can see almost in completion up on the hill to the side of the hotel. This sneak peek was given to us by Robin Roselle of Cascadia Hospitality who is the person responsible for the fabulous decorating project she undertook for new owners, Wayne and Cynnie Griffin. This is the DeHaro Townhouse number 1 and is appropriately called "The Point" since it sits at the end of the row of the new homes pointing toward the water and sitting alongside the woodlands. This 3-story townhouse enjoys over 2,500 sq. ft. of luxury living and has everything you would need to enjoy a coastal getaway including a 160 sq. ft. deck where you can get with nature and enjoy watching the deer strolling through the woods.
The dining room has a solid French dark oak extension table seating 10 people and Paris bistro dining chairs.
The kitchen has granite slab counters and commercial stainless appliances including a 6-burner Wolf stove and a SubZero refrigerator. The elevator will give you access to the 2nd and 3rd floors.
Part of the living room is shown, which has a fireplace with crafted wood mantle and floor to ceiling bay windows overlooking Roche Harbor.
On the 2nd floor the Master Bedroom has a private bath with claw foot tub, twin granite vanity sinks and stone tiled heated floors. It is an exceptionally romantic room with a king-sized four poster nickel-plated bed and a sitting area placed by the floor to ceiling bay windows where you have a great view of resort activities. Also on the second floor is a laundry alcove with washer and dryer and elevator access to the 1st and 2nd floors.
On the 3rd floor is the beautiful sunroom which leads to the outdoor deck with outside fireplace and BBQ - all ready for your guests to enjoy!
This beautiful new home could be yours for the renting. It will be available to rent this fall - call 800-451-8910 and ask for "The Point" reservations and they will set you up for a fabulous luxury island getaway in this beautiful, brand spanking new townhouse.
So you ask - who is Robin Roselle?
Robin Roselle has worked with General Manager, Brent Snow (shown in the picture) for many years. She was the interior designer for the very popular McMillin Suites on the hillside and has helped to update some of the historical rooms and cottages over the years. Great job on the townhouse Robin! If you would like Robin to help you -- with her tasteful designing experience --on your interior design project she can be reached at ...

So make sure you check them out and pick up those items you have been meaning to take home with you.

So - the next time you are looking for the Company Store Manager and she is nowhere to be found - you might be able to find her hiding at the pool! Debbie Sandwith is a doting Nana to her first grandchild, Ally who is almost 15 months old now - and since yesterday was Ally's very first visit to the pool it was a very special occasion! Debbie did not want to get left out, so had to sneak out and spend her lunch hour watching Ally frolic in the pool. What a cutie! Debbie mentioned that Ally is a fourth generation Sandwith at Roche Harbor (her Papa Pat Sandwith works at RH Water Company) and also a 7th generation Sandwith on San Juan Island. Quite a history there! Well, we are pleased to see Ally enjoying the facilities at Roche Harbor - and I am sure she will continue to enjoy them for some time to come. We love you Ally! ____________________________________________________________
