LODGING

SAN JUAN ISLAND LODGING AT ITS FINEST! . . . what better place than ROCHE HARBOR?

The historical Hotel de Haro has been serving guests since 1886. Built as lodging accommodations for John McMillin's many visitors coming to San Juan Island, he hosted many important people coming to visit his Lime and Cement business, including President Theodore Roosevelt a couple of times in 1906 and 1907. The hotel now has 4 suites containing private bathrooms including the Presidential Suite, Sunset Suite, and two Harborview Suites, along with 16 rooms with shared bathrooms. Most of the rooms overlook the beautiful formal gardens and quaint harbor and still are furnished with the original antiques of yesteryear. The charming old hotel still has noticeable slanted floors on the second floor hallway and crooked windows in the lobby which add the country ambiance so many antique buffs are looking for.

Enjoyed by many of our visitors are the luxurious McMillin Suites perched up on the hill overlooking the restaurant and harbor. These suites have been?? tastefully decorated with soft, up-to-date furnishings and include fireplaces, ceiling fans, King-size beds, fabulous bathrooms with heated flooring and clawfoot soaking tubs for two, and an outside deck complete with steamer or wicker chairs to enjoy the island sunset.

The Cottages on the Green Under the big fir tree on the hillside above the historical Hotel de Haro are these lovely cottages facing a beautifully manicured lawn overlooking the harbor. Although these homes are privately owned, several are available for lodging here at Roche Harbor. Additionally, there are Carriage Houses to the east that have two bedrooms, but are three stories, also offering a view of the harbor.

There are also Carriage Houses to the east that have two bedrooms, but are three stories, offering a view of the harbor as well.

The Condominiums are great for families and give a choice of one, two or three bedrooms. They have a fireplace in the living area, TV, a fully equipped kitchen, an outside deck and pretty views of the water through the trees. Some of the condo's have loft bedrooms.

The nine Company Town Cottages overlook the pretty bay and have views of the many boats in the docks and the setting sun. These buildings were built when Roche Harbor Lime and Cement Company needed housing for their employees in the late 1800's for families of the workers, hence their name. Nine of them still stand and have been renovated to be enjoyed by many families year after year. A large grassy area and new wooden playground for children to play, an outdoor heated swimming pool and two tennis courts are very close by. The cottages have fully equipped kitchens, two bedrooms, porch, barbecue and great view of the water.
