WEDDINGS AT ROCHE HARBOR

More than just a ceremony . . .

Weddings here have a delightful way of turning themselves into full-fledged getaways. Our place in the San Juan archipelago on the edge of Puget Sound offers you and your guests the opportunity to experience the islands' beauty throughout your stay at the resort.

Make yourselves comfortable in your home away from home by checking into one of our carriage houses a day early. Stretch your legs with a stroll through our fragrant gardens, or spend the afternoon being pampered in our day spa (coming in the Spring of 2007). In the evening, sample fresh Westcott Bay seafood and sip selections from our Wine Spectator Award of Excellence wine list. After dinner, grab a blanket and drop into our outdoor amphitheater for a late summer performance of Shakespeare Under the Stars.

Roche Harbor can create great opportunities for you to spend time with the family and friends you've invited up to the island in the days before your ceremony. Our wedding coordinators will help design a sunset seaside rehearsal dinner, or a private spa party, or a pool-side martini party. We invite you to explore all types of different experiences at our resort and spa.

A Destination Wedding at Roche Harbor

What sets apart Roche Harbor as a wedding destination are the same features that have kept our guests coming back to the resort for fifty years. Sweeping seascape views from every corner, engaging staff who exceed expectations, and the much sought-after but rarely found feeling that the world is your oyster.

At Roche Harbor we'll work side-by-side with you to piece together each integral part of your wedding, from booking accommodations at our resort, to collaborating with the Executive Chef to create a menu that meets your tastes, to creating the perfect spa package for you and your bridesmaids. Our event team has successfully hosted hundreds of ceremonies and receptions using a blend of local and non-island wedding professionals. The experience we impart in planning and performing a destination wedding is invaluable to you and your guests.

Ceremony Sites

If you've dreamed of a traditional church ceremony we'll open the doors to our historic chapel on the hillside overlooking the harbor. "Our Lady of Good Voyage" has stood majestically on the banks of Roche Harbor for more than a century, and is still used for regular services by local residents. "Our Lady" is the ideal setting for those seeking to wed in a sacred space. (Seating up to 100)

Or perhaps you envision an open-air ceremony amidst vibrant blooms in our formal gardens. A grassy lawn surrounded by brilliant flowers, the sunken gardens fill with perfumed scents and cooling breezes to make any summer ceremony memorable. (Seating up to 200.)

Reception Spaces

For more than a hundred years Roche Harbor has hosted splendid soirees. We've borrowed a page or two from John S. McMillin's extravaganzas to inspire us when designing receptions and dinners. In McMillin's footsteps, we've sought out his favorite spaces around the harbor for you to entertain your guests.

The Pavilion

(40-150 people)

One hundred years ago, the pavilion served as the sought-after venue for McMillin's closest friends to host their wedding receptions. The attendees over the years evolved into quite the who's who from the Seattle area.

These days we draw from the spirit of those celebrations for our guests' wedding receptions. The pavilion and courtyard below, which overlook the boat-filled harbor and the islands beyond, blend indoor and outdoor environments to offer people several good-feeling spaces.

The courtyard traditionally hosts the wine and appetizer reception that greets your wedding guests as they wait for you to finish formal photographs. Our servers pass through the revelers with beautiful appetizers and glasses filled with wine, while people chat and mingle with friends.

After an hour, we'll usher your guests inside the pavilion for dinner. The banquet menus we offer for the pavilion sample the best in Northwest seafood and meats, and Washington farm-fresh produce. Our Executive Chef has created wedding reception menus for more than a decade, and with his knowledge of the local market we'll develop a dinner that exceeds even the highest expectations. Also, we provide a fully stocked bar, complete with bottled beer, wine and liquor for cocktails.

After cake cutting and toasts, guests dance the night away, mingle at the tables, or stand around the great hearth fireplace in the courtyard, reminiscing old memories and laughing about new ones?ΔΆ

The Fireside Room

(up to 40 people)

Inside the McMillin's Dining Room next to the piano sits our Fireside Room. Partitioned from the main dining area by French doors, the room at one time functioned as John S. McMillin's private study, where he'd entertain smaller groups of friends from all over the world. Although the fireplace isn't lit in the summer months, the warmth of family and friends is still felt when everyone gathers for a celebration.

The room is surrounded by banks of windows looking out over a towering, harbor-side view of the marina and distant islands. In the evening, when the sun dunks behind Pearl Island to the west, the iridescent light from the afterglow lingers in the twilight sky for more than an hour.

The Fireside Room acts as a single-room venue for more intimate receptions. Our dining room staff greets your guests with drinks and appetizers from our restaurant menu while people chat and mingle. Dinner is displayed on white tablecloths in a formal setting, where each course is served fresh from our kitchen to the dining room.

If you you're interested in letting us take care of you and your family and friends, call us at 800.451.8910 to talk with a Roche Harbor wedding expert, or inquire at weddings@rocheharbor.com.

Rehearsal Dinners

After you've walked through your rehearsal ceremony, relax with family and friends over a tasty dinner prepared by our Executive Chef and his culinary team. We've designed menus for casual get-togethers and fine-dining affairs, and everything in-between. Or, if you've got something in mind that we haven't thought of, sit down with us and we'll plan the party together.

The Fireside Room is a splendid dining room for sitting down to a culinary adventure that features the freshest in Northwest cuisine and our award-winning wine list.

The Pool Lawn gives us the freedom to put on so many different kinds of parties it's hard to choose just one. These affairs traditionally are more casual, including old-fashioned clambakes, southern barbeques, and Polynesian luaus.

The Pool is a lovely spot to light up the night with the most casual of dinners???the kind you can wear a bathing suit to! After the pool shuts down in the evening, we'll bring in the barbecues and wet bars to make this party a great way to unwind before the big event the following day.

Spa Pacakges

Our new spa is slated to open its doors just in time for the 2007 wedding season. In addition to our regular menu, we're creating signature packages for wedding parties that will massage away any stress built up from planning your wedding.

Head-to-Toe Groom(ing) Packages - Scalp treatments, beard exfoliations and intensive foot-cleansings
