Meet the Team

You’ll Feel Like Family

Boaters visit for the beauty of the islands, but they come back because of the staff.

Our team is staffed with seasoned, knowledgeable crew, who also happen to be the friendliest marina staff you’ll find in any Pacific Northwest marina.

You’ll hear the neighborly kindness when you first hail us pulling into the harbor. You’ll see it in our smiles when you toss us your bowline. You’ll feel it’s genuine when you ask for information about our amenities.

Think of us as your dockside concierges, eager to please with whatever you need.

There’s a reason our “Phecal Phreak” pump-out motto is “We Take Crap from Anyone.”

Marina Leadership

Culture, Morale & Values Start at the Top

Harbormaster Kevin Carlton came to the resort in 1981 (yes, you read that right), and has been at the helm of the marina for since before most of his staff was born. He’s a magician with names, spins entertaining stories about the Roche Harbor olden days, and is quick to share an encyclopedia of hilarious jokes.

Kevin’s first officers are Katie Carlton-Flierl, Troy Buck, and Andy Flierl; who’ve faithfully served Roche Harbor guests for over 30 years. When you need something done, they’re the ones who make it happen with the team.

Stop by the office and say “hi,” we’d love to see you.

Roche Harbor no longer hosts a consistent Customs and Border Protection (CBP) staff. However, you may still enter the country legally using CBP ROAM™ app. Private boaters navigating north into Canadian waters or seeking to enter Canada by boat need to abide by Canadian laws.

Special Note: US Department of Agriculture rules regulating which goods are permissible to bring across the border into the United States are subject to frequent change. If you have questions or to check that you are in compliance, please call (360) 332-1640 for agriculture information and to speak with an agent located in our nearest USDA location: Blaine, WA. Boaters have been redirected to Friday Harbor just to throw away food and we don't want that to happen to you. Please check in advance of arrival in Roche Harbor.

More than 12,000 boaters visit the marina each year, so reservations are highly recommended. Please send a request to the Harbormaster’s office. We will review availability based on stay duration, vessel length and power needs, and then approve, waitlist, or decline the request.

FIRST-COME-FIRST-SERVED

During peak months we offer a handful of slips to a waitlist starting at 8:30am. Your vessel must be in the harbor when you make the request on VHF channel 78a to be added.

JULY 4TH HOLIDAY

Due to overwhelming popularity, July 4th reservations are not available. However, there’s a slim chance a slip might come available. Please contact the Harbormaster’s office (360.378.9816) for more information.

More Info

The most storied tradition at Roche Harbor is the colors ceremony, which is the nightly retiring of the flags. This tradition began in 1957 and continues to this day. Just before sunset the dock crew lowers the flags for Roche Harbor, Washington state, Great Britain, Canada and the United States to a soundtrack echoing over the harbor, capped off by a blast from the historic cannon. If you have a special announcement or welcome for a guest in the harbor, reach out to the marina office at 800.586.3590 or marina@rocheharbor.com. The colors ceremony occurs each night 20 minutes before sunset from early May through late September.

Schedule Video

Roche Harbor hosts dozens of rendezvous and club gatherings on our docks, where we can arrange group moorage and party barges for docktail barbeques. Contact the marina office for more information at 800.586.3590 or marina@rocheharbor.com.
