Dining in Roche Harbor

Waterfront dining in Roche Harbor is a celebration of flavor and freshness. Whether you’re indulging in a casual bite by the waterfront or watching a sunset paint the sky over locally caught seafood and award-winning wine, our diverse range of restaurants offer something for every palate.

Roche Harbor offers three restaurants featuring classic Pacific Northwest dishes, friendly service, and views that are second to none.  Join us and discover why Roche Harbor is the perfect destination for food lovers and those seeking a memorable dining experience!

McMillin’s Dining Room

Celebrate the absolute freshest seafood and aged prime meats at the resort's flagship culinary experience. Sitting in the former home of Roche Harbor founder, John S. McMillin, locals call it “island fine-dining,” because it’s the place on San Juan Island to feast on seasonal gourmet dishes. But don’t worry, because dressing to the nines isn’t required. Guests can opt for a seat in the fireside lounge for signature cocktails and small plates, or a more formal dining room with expansive views stretching out across the harbor. Come taste Chef Shaw’s take on a traditional PNW chop house.

Lime Kiln Café

Every small town needs a café where locals go for savory breakfasts and tasty sandwiches. Look no further than Lime Kiln Café, Roche Harbor’s take on the classic American eatery. How do you get there? Just follow the scent of doughnuts being made each morning, and you’ll discover this island gem perched on the wharf jutting out into the harbor. Join us for a filling breakfast or quick lunch with the family before exploring the island.

Madrona Bar & Grill

What’s more “summer” than dining on a deck? Over the water. With fresh seafood. And Jimmy Buffet tunes playing in the background. Ask three islanders what “the deck” is best known for, and you’ll get three different answers: 1) Outdoor seating with harbor and outer island views, 2) Scrumptious menu chock-full of seafood, salads and a “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” or 3) Staff so friendly and knowledgeable you’ll feel like they’re your personal island concierge. Which reason will bring you back for seconds?

Beechtree Espresso

The best way to start or end the day at Roche Harbor. This seasonal outdoor stand serves coffee so fresh and friendly you’ll think your local barista stowed away in your luggage to the island. We proudly brew PNW favorite, Starbucks, for a full menu of essential morning smile-makers. Your favorite morning cuppa isn’t the only treat we serve here. On summer afternoons you’ll see kids (of every age) lined up to get a scoop (or two) of ice cream. Which do you prefer: Morning pick-me-up, or afternoon sweet treat? (We recommend both!)

Meet the Culinary Team

One Part Quality, Two Part Consistency, Three Parts Passion

Roche Harbor is owned and operated by the Komen family, Pacific Northwest restaurateurs who founded Restaurants Unlimited and Cinnabon, which means resort dining isn’t an amenity, it’s an essential.

When Rich Komen bought Roche Harbor in 1992, one of his first big moves was to bring in Bill Shaw, a talented chef and rising star in the Seattle culinary scene.

Chef Shaw was known for creating entertaining menus and outstanding food, and for the past 33 years he’s produced both for literally hundreds of thousands of resort diners.

Today, Chef Shaw leads a culinary team brought in from all over the world, who join him in a pursuit to perfect even the most time-seasoned dishes.

“The highest skill of any chef is to turn raw ingredients into mouthwatering menus that guests rave about – then repeat day in, day out.” – Executive Chef Bill Shaw

“If happiness is a dessert so sweet, may life give you more than you can ever eat.” – Traditional Irish Blessing
